What is body temperature?
Hypothermia is a medical emergency that occurs when your body loses heat rapidly due to heat making, which causes less body temperature than dangerous. Normal body temperature is approximately 98.6 F (37 C). Hypothermia (Hi-Po-Thur-Me-Uh) occurs because your body temperature is below 95 F (35C).
When your body temperature drops, your heart, nervous system and other organs can not function normally. Untreated, hypothermia can eventually cause your heart and the complete failure of the respiratory system and ultimately death.
Hypothermia is often exposed to cold weather or immersion in cold water. The primary treatment for hypothermia is the methods of heating the body at normal temperature.
When it puts out a lot more or a lot less heat than usual, it’s trying to tell you there’s a problem. For a typical adult, body temperature can be anywhere from 97 F to 99 F. Babies and children have a little higher range: 97.9 F to 100.4 F.
What is the reason for body temperature being low?
Hypothermia occurs when your body loses warm heat due to its formation. The most common causes of hypothermia are exposure to cold-weather conditions or cold water. But if you are not prepared properly or can not control the conditions then you may have hypothermia in the long-term contact for colder environment than your body.
Specific conditions leading to hypothermia include:
1. Wear clothes that are not hot enough for weather conditions
2. Staying out in the cold for a very long time
3. Unable to get out of wet cloth or unable to go to hot, dry place
4. Falling in water in a sailing accident
5. Living in a house that is very cold, either from bad heating or too much air conditioning
What are the symptoms of body temperature decreasing?

Overexertion- Avoid activities that will cause you much sweating. With the combination of wet clothes and cold weather, you can lose body heat more quickly.
Layers- Wear loose, layered, light clothes. The tightly woven outer fabric, the safety of water, is best for wind protection. Wool, silk or polypropylene internal layers make body heat better than cotton.
Dry – Be as dry as possible. Exit wet clothes as soon as possible. Be especially careful to keep your hands and feet dry, because it is easy to go for mittens and shoes for ice.
